The thing that blows me away is that the South Beach Diet was actually created by a physician who specialized in treating heart patients. Now from what I’ve seen, when people have heart attack or something, most of them tend to be more dedicated to taking things seriously and getting back their health, which is why most likely many of his patients have been so successful. They stuck to a diet plan that actually does work. The problem with the South Beach Diet is it’s too strict, and outside those patients that really had that kind of incentive, most people just aren’t going to keep it. They’re going to deviate, to fall off the wagon of sorts.
They actually did a pretty recent study basically comparing several major programs to see which one would be most successful. Unfortunately, the South Beach Diet fell to the bottom. Of course the creator complained when these results came out, and it’s true if people actually followed it, it would be more successful. The problem is if people can’t follow it or won’t follow it, obviously they won’t be losing weight with it, and that’s the thing they presented back to him. They basically said you know to be successful, a diet has to be reasonable and livable.
